The heading above is taken from the 2013 CRD  draft interim plan, of a section supposedly detailing species identified at Island View Beach Regional park.  The reports filed under this heading however were from very much larger areas, and in many cases gave no certainty the species were at Island View Beach, and in some cases clearly were not.

The first report in this appendix is headed: 2.1 Potential Species of Conservation Significance at Cordova Shore and contains things like cut throat trout, salmon, and other species that have no connection with Island View Beach park.  Cordova Shore is not synonymous with Island View Beach.  Cordova Shore is a much larger area that encompasses Island View Beach, and stretches from north of Saanichton Bay, around Cordova Spit, the Tsawout lands, the CRD park, and private lands down into Saanich.  It has a shoreline of approximately 9.4km.  The shoreline of the CRD park is less than 1.3 km, which is less that 14% of the Cordova shoreline.   There are many parts of Cordova Shore that have characteristics and species that are not found in Island View Beach Regional Park.

Another table in this section was headed:   Table 3. Species found at Island View Beach during Breeding Bird Atlas Surveys from 2008-2012.    But these were species observed in a 10km grid square that overlapped Island View Beach Park - there is no evidence the species listed were ever present at Island View Beach.

It is grossly misleading to the public to list   "Select species identified at Island View Beach" when the species were identified from  very much greater areas, and with no proven connection to Island View.

Below is a map of Cordova Shore taken from the Cordova Strategy:
